Introduction
Betas make great pets they are easy to take care of and have excellent colors.  Males
have more vibrant colors. As females have dull colors. The bright colors on the males
work as beauty to attract the females.

Environment
Betas need to live in an environment that has little or no current as a result of their
long fins.  Betas should be kept in room temperature water as long as you make sure
there is no drastic change in the temperature so your animal is not harmed.  Many
people keep betas in a vase with plants.  This is an excellent way to display your beta
but you have to make sure that your beta has air to breathe.  Change their bowls once
a week to ensure that your beta maintains healthy and is not in cruddy water.  Betas
are some of the only fish that come to the top of the tank to breathe air.  They do not
need any type of filtration or aeration.

Food
Betas are carnivores so they will only eat meat.  Feed your beta once or twice a day to
keep your beta healthy.  Only feed your beta blood worms or brine shrimp as a treat
on occasions.   If you feed them too much of it is unhealthy for your beta.  Feed
varieties of food to make sure that your beta gets the proper nutrition it needs to
survive.  They eat protein and will not survive if you feed them plant routes.

Behavior
Betas are fish that do not do well with other betas.  Although they look peaceful they
are actually fighter fish they will attack other males till the death even if there is not
another female around.  Two females can be kept together but males can only be kept
with other calm fish or in some cases dwarf frogs.  Betas like humans a lot so do not
leave your beta in a place where humans aren't around.
