Environment
Gouramis are very extraordinary fish. When you pick a cage for your gourami make
sure that it is very large since gourami need plenty of space. Add an aeration system
for your pet gourami, this will help your gourami breathe easier. Also make sure that
you add a filtration system for your pet gourami, this will help keep harmful bacteria
away from your gourami. Keep the temperature of the water around 75 degrees
Fahrenheit. It is best to keep a thermometer in the aquarium to ensure the water
temperature is at an appropriate level. Provide hiding places for your gourami to
make them feel comfortable in their environment. Fake plants should also be provided
to give your pet gourami the feel that it is in the wild. Make sure you do a thorough
cleaning of the aquarium at least once a month so your Gouramis environment is safe.
Food
Gouramis will need to eat flaked dry or live food. When you purchase your food go to
a local pet store and they should have a diet that is made specifically for your gourami.
Gouramis should have food that has a lot of nutritional value. This will ensure your
gourami will live a healthy life with a good diet.
Behavior
Gouramis usually swim in packs depending on the type of gourami. If females and
males are mixed in a pack the will reproduce. You can avoid this by getting all females
and no males or vice versa. Males may sometimes fight. It is not acceptable to only
have one Gourami because Gouramis are sociable animals and they need other fish
to ensure they will be happy.
