Environment
Salamanders are amphibians that have skin like frogs and they live in and out of the
water.  At the bottom of your water you should have a lining of gravel at least one or
two inches deep.  Have the gravel one inch in the aquatic part and then rise the gravel
up so you can have land.  Give your salamander an equal amount of water and land.
Plants can be added to the aquarium live or fake.   On the land hiding spots should be
added and make sure you have moss or some other type of bedding.  When it comes
to heating your newts enclosure make sure that there climate basically stays the same
all year round and make sure its room temperature.  Make sure you have aeration in
your salamander’s enclosure so you can make sure they live in healthy water.  The
water in your salamander’s tank needs to be filtrated so the water does not get too
dirty for your salamander to swim in.

Food
Most pet stores will have some type of pellets to feed your salamander but it is always
great to feed them a more natural and nutritious meal from outside.  A land
Salamander can be fed just about any small bug whether its under logs or bugs that
will fly around at night.  Make sure when you catch their food that it is not something
that has pesticides on the prey and also never feed your salamander lightning bugs
because these are poisonous.  Water salamanders should be fed small aquatic
organisms these can be caught in a local pond or creeks just make sure the water is
not polluted ensuring that your salamander stays healthy.

Behavior
Salamanders have very unique behavior they will stay in the same spot just because
they are too lazy to move to a different one.  When your salamander might feel
threatened it will hiss or maybe stand on all four legs.
